Our Team
Our patients tell us we have the best staff around. Many of our staff members have been working in the field of dentistry and at our practice for many years, which we think gives our patients the benefit of continuity of care and a personal attention to detail. Our staff undergoes CPR training annually, and is OSHA certified for optimal patient and employee safety.
Mark Hanselman, D.D.S.
Dr. Hanselman was born and grew up in Ann Arbor, and graduated from Huron High School.
He attended Michigan State University and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan.
After graduation, he was a Clinical Instructor in the UM’s Dental School before purchasing his practice from Dr. John Logan. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and Washtenaw District Dental Society. Dr. Hanselman was named a “Top Dentist” in 2008, 2009 and 2010 by Hour Detroit magazine, one of 11 dentists in Ann Arbor to be recognized by his peers as one of the tops in the field.
Dr. Hanselman is married to Sally (Suttinger) Hanselman, and they have three children. Dr. Hanselman plays golf, and is passionate about UM football and his kids’ sports and activities.
Cindy Swope, Office Manager
Cindy is a graduate of Milan High School, and received her Associate’s Degree in Dental Assisting from Washtenaw Community College.
She started her career as a chair side and office assistant with Dr. John Logan in 1979 and assisted with the transition of the practice to Dr. Hanselman in 1994.
She continues to take continuing education courses and insurance seminars to remain current with changes in dentistry and in the dental business. Her goals are to assist patients in maintaining optimum dental health by scheduling appointments for dental cleaning, examinations and restorative and cosmetic dentistry.
Providing prompt attention to those patients who require urgent treatment is another goal, as is assisting patients and their families with financial dental benefits information.
Cindy is married to Ed Swope, and has an English Cocker Spaniel named Pilgrim. She likes to spend time with their families, especially their nieces and nephews, spending time at their home Up North, reading books about 14th and 15th century English Royalty, searching antique fairs and flea markets to add to her collection of 1880s pressed glass, and shopping in Northern Michigan with her sisters-in-law.
Jane Hopkins, RDH
Jane has 39 years of experience as a dental hygienist. She has been in practice since graduation from Ferris State University with highest honors in 1973, and has been part of the team at 1303 Packard Road for over 30 years.
Her focus is on preventive oral care and she has considerable experience in rehabilitative periodontal therapy.
Jane has a passion for gardening, and participated in Washtenaw County's Master Gardener program. Winter sports like cross country skiing and snowshoeing continue to be favorite activities.
Jane is married to Gene Hopkins and they live in Webster Township. Gene is an architect with expertise in historic preservation. Their daughter and son-in-law, Amanda Brie and Scott, will become the Hopkins' next door neighbors in the spring of 2013. The Hopkins' have been applying their expertise restoring an historic Webster Township farm in anticipation of Amanda and Scott’s move to the Ann Arbor area, where they will be establishing an organic farm.
Diane Steinmetz, RDH
Teresa Horn
Teresa has worked 25 years in the dental profession. She joined Dr. Hanselman’s practice in 2005.
She graduated from St. Phillip Catholic Central High School, and received her Dental Assistant Program associate degree from Washtenaw Community College.
Teresa’s patient care goals are to take care of the total person, with respect and dignity.
Teresa’s personal interests include her family, her kittens, and her friends, and she loves to swim, do Pilates, listen to music, garden and read.
Jeanne Brown
Jeanne has worked for many years in the dental profession. She joined Dr. Hanselman’s practice in 2007.
She graduated from Manistique High School and Ferris State College. She has attended many seminars and continuing education courses during her profession as a Dental Assistant.
Jeanne’s patient care goals are to deliver optimum dental care to each patient, to address the dental concerns of each patient, and to make the patient feel comfortable and at ease during their visits
Jeanne likes to travel – especially to Chicago to visit family and enjoy the sights and sounds of the city. She also enjoys golfing, bicycling and going to the recreational center, and walking her sheltie. She enjoys eating out at the many restaurants in Ann Arbor, as well as going to the movies, musicals and concerts that Ann Arbor offers. Her hobbies include baking and cooking, sewing and home decorating. She enjoys doing things with her sister and the wonderful friends she has met over the years.
